Here at Period Property Store, we understand the importance of creating an authentic and stunning interior space that makes the best of your home’s period features. The fireplace is a warm, inviting focal point that allows your family and guests to gather round and bask in front of a relaxing fire. These pieces echo traditional Victorian and Georgian designs, modernised for the new age.
Unless you buy a combination fireplace, the insert is an essential part of your fire, and includes the grate and elegant patterns and decoration to adorn your surround. Inserts were used as a primary source of heat in Victorian, Edwardian and Federation properties, and have since become known for their distinctive aesthetic properties.
Cast iron inserts are perfect for restoration projects, allowing you to reinstate character and charm in your property or renovation. They make for a classic, elegant style that is timeless, meaning that you can enjoy the inserts that we sell for years to come.
We have a range of styles for you to choose from - some understated and simply conceived, while others are intricately adorned with ornate designs. Depending on your taste, our surrounds are supplied in black - for a simple, classical look - or polished finishes. The polished look really sets off the concept and design of each insert, making for an elegant, stylish appearance. Unless you plan to use your fire for decorative purposes, all fireplace inserts will, of course, require a functioning chimney breast for installation. Integrated grates allow you to burn solid fuels such as timber or coal.
Of the styles that we supply, the Cherub is a Georgian style insert, complete with a plain fascia and a wide arch opening. This design features floral vine detailing running symmetrically along the edges - meeting at the top of the arch to frame a wonderful image. Cherubs sit atop block feet either side of each arch. The London style is an Early Victorian concept, with an elegantly simple and wide half-arched opening. The curve of the basket perfectly matches the design of the arch’s frame, giving this piece an elegant appearance.
For simple, cleaner designs, the Prince is an early Victorian insert - the arch opening is decorated with eye-catching detail that is emphasised by the simplicity of the piece. The basket and ash cover blend in perfectly, with curved bars and floral artwork. The Tiffany showcases a beautiful, inverted horseshoe archway for a unique appeal, adorned by delicate fruit and brand decoration on the edges.
